A Week of Haiku – Week 5

A Week of Haiku – Week 5

Trying to write a a haiku a day challenges me to select a moment, ruminate on it, and attempt to capture its essence in 17 syllables. I’ve found that it has helped me cultivate a posture of reflection and attentiveness—and it’s fun!

Only three this week:

Biking in the rain
Surprisingly delightful
Break from the mundane

The biggest houses
Seem more lonely and empty,
than the humble home

A cool morning breeze
Lifts the dampness from the earth
And off to the clouds
